Re: Music
No specifics, I either like the song or not.
I really liked Idol's Casey Abrams though, you should definitely check these performances:
1. Nature Boy
2. With a little help from my friends
3. I put a spell on you
4. Georgia on my mind
5. Harder to breathe (who wouldn't want kissing Jennifer )
PS: I vote having song#2 our official alliance song

Re: Music
Short Version: I can be much more specific about what I don't listen to and that would be lyric heavy music. I much prefer to hear a symphony of instruments then a person singing about one thing or another. Everything from an electric guitar to the flute sounds good to me in most cases. Can only connect to a lyric heavy song if they're singing something you can identify with or something inspiring which to me is quite rare.
Long Version: All kinds of Metal, OSTs from anime and video games frequently go on my playlist. Music plays an important role in my productivity while I'm doing tedious thing on my compy *nods* so naturally I have thousands of MP3s on my hard drives. 166gb atm with around 26,500 mp3s, all of which is music I enjoy listing to.
Memorable bands that come to mind: Iron Maiden, Nightwish, Rhapsody of Fire, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Trick Or Treat.... and lots more. I prefer to just say my favorite genre is "good music" though I tend to sway more toward the music with symphonic elements to it or cheesy power metal about brotherhood and dragons.
In terms of anime music... InuYasha, Naruto, Spice and Wolf... just powerful music not so much all that jpop stuff... though some of them are worth listening to. Lastly video game OSTs.. plenty there... Ace Combat, Chrono Cross, Command and Conquer, Guilty Gear, Okami, The Elder Scrolls.... aye... lots n lots.

@Val
I was refering to Casey Abrams renditions as he sang them on Idol.
He sang the Joe Cocker version, you should definitely check it out:

Re: Music
Frank Zappa is the all around hero but I can't say I listen to him that much nowadays.
Currently it's mostly what is on the radio.
But I can really recommend checking out Zappa, I guess "Bobby Brown" is the most known one. At least outside US, it was banned there. If you are more into symphony check out the "Yellow shark" album it is awesome.

Re: Music
I listen to pretty much everything, I rap a Little with friends and am currently training myself to play guitar, But I have to say I loved the nineties. I listen to a lot of rock, and solo singer songwriter type things. but All in all I just enjoy music.
